WIN THIS BEAUTIFUL BOOK by Stan Williams

Not long ago I got back in touch with my old friend Stan Williams through TWITTER. He writes a blog called The Elegant Thrifter which is just beautiful.  Stan is talented, smart, sophisticated, funny......the list goes on.  Last week he sent me a copy of his book, THE FIND and I have not been able to put it down.  The photos are inspiring, the writing is engaging and the styling is timeless.  THE FIND is all about decorating with "thrift shop treasures, flea market objects, and vintage details" and it's just beautiful.  It's right up my alley.
Come on! Walls covered in antique book pages.......I'm in LOVE.
Plaster statuary mixed with antique mirrors and beautiful aged dressers.  Stan has an eye that will leave you wanting to start redecorating every room.
Chapters to inspire every room in your house.
There are also profiles of some of Americas most creative tastemakers.
This is a book worth owning and you can win a copy on my blog today.
RULES
1.  Join THE ELEGANT THRIFTER and leave Stan a message that I sent you.
2.  Leave a comment here that you've done it and tell me about your favorite thrift store find.
That's it! I'll pick a winner and Stan will send you a copy of his BEAUTIFUL book, THE FIND.

  13. Hi Mark! Ohhh I soooooo wanna win this one!!! I joined Elegant Thrifter... Looking forward to lots of ideas and inspiration!

My favorite find wasent actually a thrift store/flea market find, but an old piece of furniture my friend was going to donate or trash. it's a gorgeous hutch. It has an arched top and the doors on the front are cathedral with glass panes. The bottom half is a cabinet but the doors have a gorgeous arched inlay. It was used by her great grandmother for storing china and serving pieces, but I use it to display my favorite old family photos, precious mementos like my wedding bouquet, my matron of honor bouquet, as well as an urn with our beloved 13 year old yellow labs ashes. Inside, The bottom is divided up and has shelves both horizontal and vertical... Perfect for storing photo albums as well as all the kids school and sports photos. So glad I nabbed it. It's my favorite piece of furniture in the house.

Sigh... you prob didn't want THAT much detail?! :)

  14. Stan sent me! My favorite find was this GORGEOUS set of Children's Books called the Junior Classics by my favorite publisher, Collier, from 1948. I got them for $1 per book and I was so ecstatic! They are so beautiful, and even though I'm only 18, I'm planning to save them for my children, and they will be those magic old story books their mom read from. And their Grandma. They'll be family heirlooms if I have anything to say about it. They're featured in this post on my blog if you want to see them: http://thriftyharper.blogspot.com/2011/04/beautiful-books.html

  26. Favourite thrift store find would have to be a Junghens 1960's teak starburst clock. Paid only $2.00 at a local thrift store. Could not believe my eyes when I spotted it.
Every weekend I hit the thrift stores and I have a huge focus on mid century finds. I am renovating my 1960's house in the hills with authentic mid century furniture. Each room is being turned into an authentic but functional 1960's time warp.
Love the Thrift Shop scene in the States(I live in Australia) and spent three weeks in The Haight experiencing all things retro.
